Name:Jennifer Shepard
Birthdate:Oct 17
Location:New York, New York, United States
[This journal contains spoilers for NCIS seasons 3-5]

background in 100 words
Jenny started out as an NCIS field agent working with Jethro Gibbs. A lot of what she knows today she learned from him. No one messes with her. She is extremely ambitious and career oriented and shortly took over as director of NCIS--and as the first female director. When she was still a field agent, her father committed suicide, or at least that's the official word. Her father was under suspicion of taking bribes from an arms dealer, La Grenouille. Since then, Jenny has made it her personal mission to take him down. Not that she would call it such.
expanded nutshell
In 1999, while a field agent, she and Agent Jethro Gibbs (her partner as well as her lover) were assigned to assassinate an arms dealer and his fiancee, Svetlana. Gibbs was able to accomplish his task, however Jenny didn't have the emotional capacity to accomplish hers and the fiancee got away. This will come back to bite her in the ass.

Her father committed suicide more than a decade ago, or at least that's the official word. Her father was under suspicion of taking bribes from an arms dealer, La Grenouille. Jen, however, believed "The Frog" murdered her father. Since then, she has made it her personal mission to take him down. Not that she would call it such. She used her position as Director to further her personal agenda.

After more than a year of an undercover operation involving Agent Anthony DiNozzo, La Grenouille's body turns up. While both Tony and Jen are cleared of his murder, Gibbs knows Jen was responsible. She lied during the FBI's investigation into the murder and Gibbs chose to stay quiet on his findings. Later this same year, Jenny is diagnosed with a terminal illness, but she pretends she's fine and keeps the diagnoses to herself. She never tells Gibbs, but he suspects.

While in California for a funeral, Jenny suspects the deceased agent's cause of death was actually murder. She uncovers links to the case from 1999. The leads take her to an abandoned diner in the desert. It took Svetlana years to track down Jenny and Gibbs, but now that she had, she was out for revenge. Four armed men entered the diner and a gunfight follows. Jenny manages to take down all four, but she also gets gunned down. Her death is covered up by Gibbs and the official cause of death is smoke inhalation from a house fire.

New York verse: At the end of the shootout in the California diner, Jenny survives, although just barely. She spends several weeks in a hospital, listed as a Jane Doe. After being released, she spends eight weeks quietly recuperating under [profile] ncis_ljgibbs' roof. There's nothing of her old life left and with a letter to Gibbs, she leaves Washington bound for New York. After losing her once and nearly losing her again, Gibbs decides he can't live without her and follows her to New York. But life in New York City is not all roses; they suffer the loss of an unexpected pregnancy. New friends and new decisions bring them to Albuquerque, NM., a place of healing and growing. Fueled by their loss, they decide to try again and conceive in the desert. Now with a due date just days shy of the one year anniversary of the California shooting, Jenny decides she needs to reclaim her former life and the throne.

Nonspecific verse [played at [community profile] sixwordstories] and in journals]: As Jenny's ALS comes to light, right along with her relationship with the young lab tech Clarke Banks, she is forced to face obstacles on personal and professional levels. The fallout from her gunning for La Granouille has evolved, leaving The Frog's daughter full of venom and spit. Her own hand picked minion goes after what Jenny holds dearest - not her long time partner and lover Agent Gibbs but instead Clarke, whom Jenny is still wrestling and justifying her feelings for. Forced to face a reality of her own making, Jenny is trapped between the personal and the professional, between revenge and forgiveness and all the while the clock ticks ever louder, reminding her of her own impending mortality.

I'm playing Jen in an infinite space between 5x12 Stakeout and (up to) 5x18 Judgement Day. The tricky part is that I always play my muses in real time, even Jen on a micro level. The problem for me is that if I play her as if Judgement Day just never happened and she carried on as always, she'd most likely be dead by now anyway.

This business with Le Têtard will fall into this ever-absorbing black hole of time and space that is the six-week span I'm working in. 6 weeks = 3 years, which, if my math is right, means each day is roughly equal to 26 days. Plenty of time for infinite adventures.

BASICALLY, you can ask her what she thinks of John Boehner and she'll happily answer without looking at you like you're nuts!
fine print
This is a roleplay journal. Jenny Shepard and the show NCIS do not belong to me and I make no money from this. This journal is maintained for fun and creative fan-type purposes. Mun and muse are both way over 18.
